Thank you for your interest in our intermediate class!
A strong foundation in bachata fundamentals allows you to focus on creative expression, musicality, and building meaningful dance connections with your partners. Before advancing to intermediate level, you should be comfortable executing these core techniques without detailed teacher instruction:
-
Basic Steps & Timing: Maintain proper posture, grounded steps, coordinated hip movement and chest movement when appropriate, and consistent musicality while executing the basic 3-step pattern with tap.
-
Dance Positions: Confidently transition between open position, frame, and close embrace while maintaining appropriate connection and body alignment.
-
Syncopations: Be able to syncopate on different timings while remaining grounded, balanced, and on time.
-
Turn Technique: Execute both basic (back-to-back) and outside turns with balance, proper spotting, and consistent timing.
-
Clear Connection: Demonstrate clear understanding of tension and relaxation principles to lead/follow effectively and communicate/respond to intent.
-
Body Isolations: Control independent movement of hips, chest, and waist while maintaining overall dance frame and balance. Execute a basic body roll with control isolating each part.
